Abstract

"It is not easy" is one of the most commonly used expressions by women and men in Cuba because it sums up the hard times that the Caribbean island is currently going through. In the new Cuban socioeconomic landscape, it is women who, to a great extent, are suffering the consequences of the economic crisis in their family and social lives, given that have to work for the productive system, generate networks of solidarity and, above all, act as important home keepers. By studying different migratory trajectory of Cuban women who live in Spain, we ask if the situation of family and social pressure linked to the reproductive ambit has become one of the factors causing Cuban women to emigrate, above all when, from a Cuban ideological perspective, they have been made aware of the possibilities open to them in the public domain.
