Abstract

This report uses the Motor Vehicle Prioritizing Interventions and Cost Calculator for States (MV PICCS), an online tool developed by RAND researchers, to analyze the cost-effectiveness of traffic crash–intervention policies and programs. The original development of the MV PICCS was sponsored by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This report examines different ways to rank interventions based on cost-effectiveness, analyzes the effects of implementing the most cost-effective interventions, and specifically looks at cost-effective ways to reduce drunk driving.
