Abstract

Bilayer tablets are the medicines which consist of two same or different drugs combined in a single dose for effective treatment of the disease. The aim of this review is to reveal the challenges that appear during the preparation of bilayer tablets, and also propose solutions for these challenges. Moreover, types such as single side press, double side press, and bilayer tablet displacement press along with applications, pros, and cons of bilayer tablets are mentioned to better understand the bilayer tablet. Besides, to have a complete insight into the bilayer tablets various methods and techniques which are employed in the formation of these type of tablets are also discussed in the review article. Finally, the whole article is critically analyzed in a concluding paragraph.
