Abstract

COVID ‐19 pandemic has caused an overwhelming pressure to everyone around the world. Not only public healthcare system is overloaded with patients, but also public are panic, restricted in their mobility, and their daily life are completely changed. As a regional blood centre in part of China, the first 3 months of year 2020 were both painful and stressful in managing both the blood safety and supply. However, the experience gained and measures implemented to overcome blood shortage and gain donors’ confidence in safe blood donation were fruitful. All these should further be incorporated into the existing contingency plan in managing emerging infectious diseases and shared among colleagues in transfusion communities.
