Maria Firmina dos Reis: Escrita íntima na construção do si mesmo

Abstract

This article analyzes "álbum", a notebook of intimate writings by Maria Firmina dos Reis, with the aim of investigating the construction of her individuality and subjectivity as a black woman and novelist from Maranhão, in the mid-19th century. With this in mind, the article establishes a theoretical framework, reconstructs her social context, and presents her intimate reflections extracted from "álbum".
