Abstract

The fundraising crisis faced by the Brazilian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is also experienced in other parts of the world, including the central countries, precisely the ones housing organizations that have traditionally supported projects from the organizations of peripheral countries. In this situation of crisis, it was observed that the European NGOs for international solidarity, especially the British ones, have identified Brazil as a potential space for fundraising, especially in partnership with the private sector. In order to ensure the sustainability of the programs, these organizations resort to strategies that refer to the globalization of capital, as it is the case of the merger with Brazilian organizations. Based on the examples of OXFAM and Save the Children, this paper aims at analyzing the new scenario of nongovernmental international cooperation, characterized by associated processes of transnationalization and privatization, with impacts on the profile and agenda of the organizations.
