Abstract
Group play and creativity by means of a writing workshop. - Language and thought cannot be differentiated. Their joint progress enables a child to reach developmental milestones that extend from reality to symbol, from the concrete to the abstract, thus gaining access to any complex sign system, namely the written language. The ability to build up conceptual representations is key to language acquisition. Playing while writing becomes the common creative experience where writing as a game allows for the reap- propriation of the written word, considered here as a « personal mark »favouring the progressive recovery of arrested cognitive processes. © Medecine et Hygiene.
