Abstract

In this work we studied the preparation and characterization of composite rigid elastomeric polyurethanes. Thermal, mechanical and microscopic properties of these materials were evaluated by TGA, DMA, hardness and SEM-EDS. In the synthesis of the composite was made a comparative study using waste from natural clays extraction process from the Campo do Tenente (CT), regions Rio do Rastro (RR) and Pitanga (Pit) municipalities of the state of Paraná and the commercial silica. The results showed that the thermal and mechanical properties of the composites did not increase when compared to the polymer. Demonstrating that the loads used showed no characteristic of reinforcing fillers, this behavior may be due to its chemical composition, dominated by oxides and hydroxyls metals.
