The development of programming competencies is essential in higher education. The results show that the most implemented teaching-learning strategies are project-based learning (37%), flipped classrooms (25%), and collaborative programming (18%). Emerging technologies such as augmented and virtual reality are gaining prominence. Despite technological, methodological, and research advancements in this field, there is still a lack of longitudinal studies to evaluate long-term impacts. It is highlighted the need to explore innovative technologies, interdisciplinary approaches, and fostering international collaborations. In conclusion, this bibliometric analysis provides a detailed vision of current trends and the main contributors to research on teaching and learning of higher education programming.
