Abstract

Shoots ascribed to Voltziopsis africana Sewardare described, with cuticular detail. These comparevery closely with the shoot system, with an attachedseed cone, caned V. wolganensis sp. nov., which isassociated with pollen of the Strotersporites Wilsonsort. The shoot called, Brachyphyllum angustumWalkom is redescribed though Walkom's specimenscannot be found, and proves to be so closeto the species referred to Voltziopsis that it isreclassified V. angusta (Walkom) comb. nov. Thematerial considered comes from the Lower Triassicof New South Wales, and reasons are given for consideringall Voltziopsis specimens Lower Triassicalso. The classification of Voltziopsis in the Coniferalesis discussed.
