Abstract

The review analyzes the content of the monograph published by a group of Russian scholars. The main sections of the book characterize the role of digitalization in the socio-economic development of Latin American countries from different sides. The book's advantages include a comprehensive assessment of the phenomenon of the digital divide between the countries of the region, interpreting it as a result of geographical differences and of social inequality. Basically, agreeing with the authors' assessments of the role of digitalization in the development of Latin America and the Caribbean, the reviewer argues with them about the prospects for creating “smart cities” in the region.
