Abstract
The outcome of a symposium held at the Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory November 17-19, 1982, on the origin and evolution of seamounts. The topic for the symposium arose from the realization that although there is now a wealth of new ideas on the geology, geophysics, and geochemistry of the ocean floor, the study of seamounts has been relatively neglected despite their great importance to plate tectonics. -from Author
