Abstract

Solutions are presented for t he low-frequency electromagnetic response to an oscillating magnetic dipole by conducting bodies of simple shape. The quasi-stationary approximation is employed throughout, which is valid when the relevant dimensions of the problem are all small compared to the free-space wavelength. This amounts to matching solutions of the wave equation within the bodies to solutions of Laplace's equation outside. The results have application to geophysical prospecting.
