Drug Logistics Management Information System in Puskesmas Pharmacy Services: Literature Review

Abstract

Introduction: A pharmaceutical logistics management information system enables users to get the right data, in the right quantity, right quality, and at the right time. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to review the literature related to pharmaceutical logistics information systems within the puskesmas. Methods: This study is a literature review. The articles used were Indonesian-language articles published on Google Scholar in the period 2016 – 2023. The inclusion criteria were data containing the keywords drug management information system at the puskesmas, while the exclusion criteria were articles that were not related to these keywords. The articles included in this study are observations and experiments conducted in various regions in Indonesia. Results: There were 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria, with details of 40% of studies in Java, 33.3% of public health centers in Sulawesi, 20% of Sumatra, and 6.67% of studies in Kalimantan. The search results show that 60% of puskesmas are still managing drugs manually, and 40% are making efforts to design a web-based information system. Conclusion: Most health centers still use a manual drug management system. The weakness is that there is often inaccuracy in recording information with the physical logistics quantity of drugs. The use of a web-based electronic system is considered to save time, is easily accessible, and guarantees data security.
