Abstract

A floristic treatment of Aquifoliaceae in the Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca (PEIB), located in the southeast of Minas Gerais (Brazil), is presented. The study area is part of the Serra da Mantiqueira, in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, and its vegetation comprises a mosaic of phytophysiognomies, with predominance of the campos rupestres. The family is represented in the area by four species: Ilex dumosa, I. paraguariensis, I. subcordata and I. theezans. Descriptions, identification keys, illustrations of the diagnostic characters, taxonomic, ecological, and geographic distribution comments are presented to the species.
