Abstract
The exact method to workup a patient with abdominal trauma is becoming more and more complex. Newer modalities like computerized tomograms and ultrasound need to be added to diagnostic peritoneal lavage and serial physical exams. The cause of the trauma also must be factored into the surgeon's equation of how to evaluate a patient with abdominal trauma.
