Abstract
After a short description of Cogan's syndrome clinical features, an atypical case of a 62 yr old woman with unilateral sectorial sclerokeratitis is reported. After an episode of influenza, this woman developed sclerokeratitis of the left eye with hypacusis and vertigo, while serologic tests for syphilis were reported to be negative. Attention should be particularly focused on the age of the patient and the kind of eye lesion; namely, it should be pointed out that, as far as age is concerned, similar symptoms developed at the sixth decade of life are rather exceptional, and, as to the eye lesion, sectorial sclerokeratitis was found only in a case report of Cody and Williams. This paper particularly emphasizes the atypical ocular manifestations of Cogan's syndrome and could contribute to a more suitable diagnostic approach of some oto ophthalmic manifestations.
