Abstract

High tibial osteotomy for the correction of angular deformities associated with osteoarthritis of the knee was performed in 22 knees of 17 patients. Opening of the osteotomy above the tibial tubercle was performed to correct genuvarus. The relief of pain was 100%. The good results are believed to be due not only to the redistribution of the weight, but the healing of the cartilage and subchondral bone due to increase in circulation.
