Abstract
Social work managers can use their managerial functions of planning organising leading and control as primary intervention strategies in such a way that they promote the health and wellbeing of employees. This article will argue that managers in social work can benefit by/through their strategic planning processes, the principle of person-environment fit, collaborative management, an awareness of their own cognitive processes and blind spots in addressing organisational stress and eliminating potential organisational stressors. The value of a stress audit and a proposal for a Management Assistant Programme are also presented.
