Abstract

Mathematical communication capability in fourth grade of Elementary School 3 Sumberdadi was quite low. Based on the interview, the average 62% of fouth grade students of Elementary School 3 Sumberdadi Trenggalek don't have the mathematical communication capability. Departing from this issue, it was needed a learning which contained stimulus response, so this research was conducted. This research aims to describe the use of Gagne Learning Theory and fraction card media, and explain the development of mathematical communication capability of fourth grade students Elementary School 3 Sumberdadi Trenggalek in equality of rational number. This classroom action reaserch used two cycles. The subject of the reaserch was fourth grade students in the amount of 20 students. Data collection techniques utilized in the from of tests, observations, interview, documentation dan field notes. Data analysis techniques used are triangulation techniques. The results in the first cycle as much as 40% students get the value ≥70 with an average value 65,15. In the second cycle as much as 100% students get value ≥70 with an average value 85,7. The conclusions are the utilization of Gagne learning theory and fraction card media can escalate the mathematical communication competence of fourth grade students of Elementary School 3 Sumberdadi Trenggalek.
