Celebraciones escolares y poéticas patrióticas: La dimensión performativa del Estado-Nación

Abstract

This paper examines a particular case of the processes of formation of national communities in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century in Latin America. Specifically, we consider the process in which the National Council of Education was becoming the guiding power of national education and the value of the publication “The Common Education Monitor” by analyzing a census of musical tastes among Argentine children. The analysis of this survey will allow us to observe the performative dimension of the state speeches and performances in Argentina and thus closer to the formation of patriotic subjectivities through artistic practices.
