Abstract
The point of view on the internationalization of both an objective and purposeful process in a globalizing world is presented. The purpose of the article is to analyse the internationalization in the context of globalization based on the approaches of domestic and foreign researchers. The study is based on general scientific methods, the principle of complementarity of approaches of domestic and foreign researchers. The authors found that, in contrast to globalization, internationalization gives higher education the character of controllability by globalization processes; involves the construction of relationships between countries, people, cultures, institutions and systems, contributes to the openness of national higher education systems to each other, value and institutional harmonization, mutual adaptation, rather than mixing, unification and erasing differences. The authors concluded that internationalization objectively becomes the leading trend of higher education worldwide in the context of globalization. Successful internationalization requires the development of a national higher education strategy.
