Abstract

One of the major challenges in the field of electrochemical conversion of CO2 to CO in zero-gap-electrolyzers is the scale-up to industrial relevant sizes. Despite the remarkable results achieved at laboratory scale in recent years, little progress has been made scaling up this technology. In this work, we show how controlling the water content at the cathode can help minimize flooding processes and enable the transfer of promising experimental results to larger electrolyzers.
