Abstract
Construction demolition waste disposal is considered a serious concern across several countries and threatens the environment. Utilisation of those demolition wastes in the construction industry and recycle the wastes resolves the environmental problem. Sustainable solution to handle the construction demolition waste is the utilisation of partial/ full replacement for conventional coarse aggregate. Utilisation of non-renewable resources, carbon dioxide emission, high consumption of energy requirement of cement production motivates the researchers to find out the possible alternative to minimise the utilisation of cement in the building industry. Over the few decades, there is increased concern about using sugarcane bagasse ash as a partial replacement of cement is investigated in this paper along with other supplementary cementitious materials include GGBS and nano silica. Based on the previous studies, fixed proportion of 10% bagasse ash was used as a maximum replacement for cement. Different proportions of nano silica ranging from 1 to 6% by weight of cement were incorporated as an additive in concrete specimens. The influence of SCBA, recycled aggregate, GGBS and nano silica is presented in this paper on the mechanical and durability properties of concrete.
