Distributed object computing platforms

Abstract

The role of distributed object computing platforms, in particular Object Management Group's Object Management Architecture (OMA), in providing an interoperability platform is discussed. The key communication mechanism of OMA is Common Object Request Broker (CORBA), in which objects communicate with other objects via an ORB that provides brokering service between clients and servers. CORBA offers a useful methodology and middleware for building interoperable databases.
