Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of the Children Learning in Science (CLIS) model, a description of student learning outcomes on respiratory subject after the application of the CLIS method, and to determine the effect of CLIS model on the activities and learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN 207 Lemo-lemo, Lilirilau District, Soppeng Regency. This research is an experimental research, with One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample consisted 7 students of fifth grade at SDN 207 Lemo-lemo as the experimental group and 6 students of fifth grade at SDN 277 Sarecoppeng as the control group. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, questionnaires, and tests. Hypothesis testing was carried out using SPSS 20. The test results showed a significant value (Sig.) of 0.0060.05, so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there was a significant difference between the average learning outcomes of the experimental group using the CLIS learning model and the average learning outcomes of the control group using conventional methods. Student and teacher activities after the implementation of CLIS model was in the high category. Likewise, learning outcomes show that the average posttest of students is higher than the pretest scores, so there is an effect of using the CLIS model on learning activities and student learning outcomes in class V SDN 207 Lemo-Lemo.
