Abstract

This research proposes the comparison of the social representation of populations from two countries with a different levels of socio-economic development: Morocco and France. It aims to highlight how the social representation could act as a filter when faced with evolutions induced by the macro-social dynamics. With the analysis of the development of the sport and the associated ideologies in these two countries, we could schematised the social and ideological context through the modern and post-modern concepts of sport. From this conception, we looked at the relationships between this context and the social representations of the subgroups. The sample is composed of students in the field of sport in the two countries. An analysis of the social representation is carried out using a word association task. The results make it possible to underline the presence, in the two countries, of modern and post-modern values, even if they do not have exactly the same sense. These differences are interpreted in terms of a different appropriation of these values.
