Abstract

The article draws attention to the social impacts of economic deconcentration from the capital of the state of São Paulo towards its interior. The beneficial impacts identified by the specialized literature notwithstanding, intermunicipal fiscal war has diminished the city's capacity for economic growth and job creation, both in the industrial and the service sectors.
