Abstract
The invention provides compds. having the formula I. The invention further relates to methods used to prep. these compds., to compns. which comprise these compds. and to their use in agriculture or horticulture for controlling undesirable vegetation. Compds. of formula I wherein X and Y are independently O and S; R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently H, halo, CN, No2, OH, (un)substituted C1-6 alkyl, etc.; A is (un)substituted 5-membered heterocyclic ring; P is CR12 and N; Q is CR13 and N; S is CR13 and N; T is CR15 and N; R12, R13, R14 and R15 are independently H, halo, C1-2 (fluoro)alkyl, C1-2 (fluoro)alkoxy, and C1-2 (fluoro)alkylthio; Z is a bond and a chain contg. 1 - 5 carbon and/or hetero-atoms forming ring B; are claimed. Example compd. II was prepd. by amidation of 3-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1-ethyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid with Me 2-amino-4-pyridinecarboxylate; the resulting pyrazolecarboxamide underwent hydrolysis to give 2-[[[3-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1-ethyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]carbonyl]amino]-4-pyridinecarboxylic acid, which underwent amidation with 4-fluoropiperidine hydrochloride to give compd. II. All the invention compds. were evaluated for their herbicidal activity (some data given). [on SciFinder(R)]
