Abstract
Optimization of the increase in national rice productivity can be achieved through the addition of cropping index and crop expansion to suboptimal land, such as acidic dry land. The potential of acidic dry land for food crops in Indonesia is quite extensive, but is hampered by drought stress and Aluminum (Al) toxicity. Efficient and sustainable approach that can be taken in the cultivation of acidic dry land is by choosing adaptive varieties on acidic dry land. The purpose of this study was to obtain rice lines that tolerant to drought either aluminium toxicity and resistance to blast disease. Selection was conducted in the acid dry land of KP Tamanbogo, Lampung in wet season 2017/2018. The selection material included 265 lines with five comparative varieties, e.g. Limboto, Inpago 12, Situpatenggang, Batutegi and Inpago 7. The results was selected 61 adaptive lines of acid dry land and have an average yield exceeding the average yield of the comparative varieties (3.46 t / ha). These lines are resistant to neck blast and leaf blast, and are tolerant of Al toxicity. The response of the growth of selected lines that had a very significant effect on Al toxicity was plant height (r = -0.51 **) and grain yield (r=0.38*). Whereas based on observational data of 265 selected upland rice lines, the most correlated to yield were the number of productive tillers (r = 0.94 **), flowering age (r = -0.56 **), harvest age (r = -0.60 **) and score of neck blast (r = 0.47 **). The level of tolerance to Al toxicity is strongly correlated with resistance to neck blast (r = 0.59 **) and leaf blast (r = 0.77 **).
