Abstract
Schottenfeld and Fraumeni Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention, now in fourth edition (Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention 4), has been the ‘go to’ text for cancer epidemiology (less so for prevention, which has been lightly treated) since Oxford University Press (OUP) published the first edition in 1982. I have an interest. I have authored or co-authored a chapter in each edition. Consequently, I have an unavoidably favourable view of the tome; but I also have author insights into it that you may find helpful. If you buy a copy, I recommend you buy the e-version. Like its predecessors, the hard-copy fourth edition is a door-stopper. It is much easier to find what you want in the e-version than in a 38-page index and 1270 pages of fine print and thin paper. The paper version looks good, though, on a bookshelf—if you still have one.
