Abstract

Histopathologic study is considered gold-standard for diagnosis of skin lesions, either neoplastic or inflammatory, most of the times. To take the most out of a skin biopsy, physicians should be aware of the reasons for performing the procedure followed by microscopic examination, the objectives to be achieved and the best manner to do the biopsy, including the best technique and best anatomical site for a particular disease. ©2009 by Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia.
