Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is still a major world health problem, integrated solutions can be an option to reduce the number of hypertension problems in Indonesia because nutritional problems can not only be solved by the health sector (specific interventions) but also by sectors other than health (sensitive interventions). The factor that is believed to be one of the causes of the difficulty in reducing hypertension is the low level of knowledge. Many studies are related to the determinants of the level of knowledge that affect the process of controlling hypertension, but there are not many studies that identify the effect of media posters in increasing the knowledge of the elderly. Objective: To identify the effect of health education using poster media on increasing the knowledge of the elderly at Posyandu Mawar VI I in West Adiarsa, West Karawang. Method: The research design used was One Groups Pretest Posttest with the Quasy Experiment type of research. The population used is people aged 30-80 years who are registered at Posyandu Mawar VII Adiarsa Barati. There are 14 respondents who will be used as samples. The statistical test used is the Normality Test, Paired Sample T-Test and Independent Sample T-Test using SPSS. Result: The statistical test results obtained that the difference in average knowledge before and after receiving health education with poster media in the control group was 3.35 with a standard deviation of 10.24 and in the intervention group was 4.67 with a standard deviation of 6.71. The results of the statistical test of paired samples T-test obtained a p value = 0.000 where the p value <0.005 means that HA is accepted. Conclusion: This study states that Health Education with Media Posters has an effect on increasing knowledge with statistical test result s which show significant results, namely 0.000 <0.005.
