Abstract

Poultry production is a competitive market that requires industries to have efficient process in order to increase their productivity. At the same time, environmental legislation demand that industries look for a long-term sustainable business model. With this scenario, a Cleaner Production program is developed in a Bird Slaughter Plant located in Guayas Province - Ecuador, with the purpose of reducing energy and water consumption. To achieve this objective, the applied methodology combined aspects of Cleaner Production, ISO standards, among others. The results exceeded expectations, it significantly reduces energy and water consumption with savings of USD 500,000 per year.
