Abstract

Background Cryptosporidium species are intestinal protozoan parasites of the phylum Apicomplexa, which cause diarrheal disease in humans worldwide. Although Cryptosporidium was discovered in 1907, the fi rst human cases of cryptosporidiosis were reported in 1976. But after the emergence of the HIV/AIDS in the early 1980s, the parasite has become widely recognized as a human pathogen [1,2]. Abstract Background: Cryptosporidium species is increasingly recognized as a leading cause of diarrheal disease with life threatening condition in HIV/AIDS patients.
