Abstract

This paper describes a Finite Element Modeling (FEM) of splice beam connections using RHS subjected to pure bending. A three dimensional (3D) finite element model consist of an end-plate, four bolts, weld and the beam web is conducted by using the software package SUT-DAM. Particularly, contactinteraction between surfaces is modeled. It is assumed that the elasto-plastic law is constitutive. The model includes both material and geometric nonlinear behavior. The result of existing experimental work is used to calibrate the model. This model clearly shows accurate correlation between FEM and experimental result.
