Abstract

The article addresses the issue on African Americans' higher rates of drowning and lower levels of swimming skill when compared to the other groups of people. It contends for the collective effort of the African American community in improving the swimming gap and in reducing deaths associated with it. It also outlines the strategic actions for this issue such as the creation and advocacy of partnerships for the swimming gap.
