Abstract

Visual Analysis of Composition and Coloring Editing Documentary Film the Clown Di Balik Tawa. One of the professions that may still be unfamiliar to the public is the clown profession. Clowns, which we often encounter at birthday parties or circus attractions, have a strong appeal to children. Broadly speaking, a clown is a showman or commonly known as a comedian. However, now the true meaning of a clown has begun to deviate from the word profession due to the phenomenon of the emergence of street clowns due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. In today’s all-digital era, film has become a fairly easy and effective medium for conveying information to the public in Indonesia in reviving the clown profession. In film, there are many things that must be considered in attracting the audience’s attention, one of which is in terms of visual composition and the application of color to the visuals of the film. Interesting shooting techniques and appropriate editing techniques are needed so that the contents of the message in the film can be conveyed properly. This research will use descriptive qualitative in data collection, and analyze directly to the design of the documentary film “Behind the Laughter”. This study concludes how important is the application of visual composition and the application of color to visual films that will have an impact on the audience.
