Abstract

Remission of pemphigus foliaceus in a goat was successfully achieved within 1 week of initiating treatment, using an immunosuppressive induction dosage of prednisolone (1 mg/kg of body weight, IM, q 12 h). Remission was maintained by use of an immunosuppressive maintenance dosage of prednisolone (1 mg/kg, IM, q 48 h). Treatment with aurothioglucose (1 mg/kg, IM, q 48 h) during attempted discontinuation of corticosteroid administration failed to prevent redevelopment of pemphigus foliaceus.
