Abstract
This article argues about a historiographical perspective that attempts to set education in the context of social relations. The research circumscribed in school boundaries takes the risk of producing restricted interpretations, which could be termed as educentrism. It makes considerations about the limits of educentrism, and it presents information about digitized documents from extensive research. It indicates consequences from the adoption of this perspective, related to working with sources like legislative documents and periodicals, and also on the question of international relations, about the themes of Catholic Church and the kindergarten, and the tensions in local, regional and national dynamics.
