Pre excitation syndromes are characterized by anomalous atrioventricular conduction that causes the ventricles to be depolarized earlier than through the normal conduction pathways. There are 3 types of pre excitation: James type, Wolff Parkinson White type and Mahaim type. It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the most widely accepted mechanisms and the electrocardiographic diagnosis of these syndromes.
