Abstract

As inoculações por ferimentos mostraram os seguintes dados de mortalidade: 'Coquinho' 100%; 'Haden' 80%; 'Espada' 70% e 'Jasmim' 0%.Three mango varieties used as rootstocks - Coquinho, Jasmim and Espada - were grown from seeds and planted in pots under greenhouse conditions in order to evaluate their resistance to the fungus Ceratocystis fimbriata Ell. & Halst. The cultivar Haden was used as a susceptible control. The plants were inoculated either by irrigating the soil with a suspension of the pathogen or by taking out a leaf and placing the pathogen on the scar. When inoculated via soil 'Coquinho' and 'Haden' presented 100% mortality, 'Jasmim' 10% and 'Espada' 0%. When inoculated in the aerial part 'Haden' presented 80% mortality, 'Coquinho' 100%, 'Espada' 80% and 'Jasmim' 0%. The Espada variety which showed good resistance when inoculated via soil was susceptible when inoculated through a scar in the aerial part of the plant.
