Abstract
The aim of this paper is to establish an analytical relationship between the aquifer parameters for porous media and the so-called Dar-Zarrouk parameters so that the former can best be estimated from the surface resistivity measurements. Taking the two fundamental laws, viz. Darcy's law of fluid flow and Ohm's law of current flow, analytical relationships between transmissivity and transverse resistance, as well as transmissivity and longitudinal conductance have been established. It was found that the relationship between transverse resistance and transmissivity is more meaningful, as the product of hydraulic conductivity and electrical conductivity of an aquifer may be assumed to be constant for an area with a particular geological setting and range of water quality. This is verified by analysing the data given by Kelly. © 1981.
