Abstract

This study examines the significant role leadership plays in the success of projects within 78 companies in northern Morocco. By employing structural equation modeling with SMART PLS-4 software, we tested our hypotheses and confirmed the robustness of our research model. The article is organized into two primary sections: the first provides a comprehensive literature review that establishes a conceptual framework for understanding leadership and its influence on project success, while the second part presents the empirical findings derived from our investigation. The results underscore the critical role that leadership skills, particularly those fostering team cohesion, stakeholder engagement, and the management of interpersonal relationships, play in achieving project objectives. Effective leaders who can mobilize teams, align stakeholders, and manage expectations effectively significantly enhance project performance. This study highlights the importance of soft skills such as communication, conflict resolution, and team motivation as key factors in ensuring the success of projects, especially within the unique context of companies in northern Morocco. Furthermore, the findings suggest that leadership is not only a strategic asset but also a vital lever for effective project management. Leaders who can cultivate a collaborative environment and inspire commitment among team members are better positioned to achieve project goals. The emphasis on developing leadership capabilities tailored to the regional context is an important insight for practitioners and researchers seeking to improve project outcomes in similar settings. In conclusion, we demonstrate that leadership is an essential determinant of project success. The ability of leaders to manage relationships, communicate effectively, and motivate teams directly influences the ability of companies in the region to complete projects successfully. By focusing on enhancing these human-centric skills, organizations can significantly improve their project management outcomes. This research provides valuable insights for both scholars and practitioners, emphasizing the need for leadership development as a key factor in ensuring the successful completion of projects in a regional business environment.
