Counterproductive work behavior in organizations: A systematic literature review using bibliometric analysis

Abstract

The development of organizational behavior, particularly Counterproductive Work Behavior (CWB), is gaining significant attention. CWB has diverse impacts on organization, making it a popular topic for discussion. Therefore, this study aimed to contribute to the literature on CWB in organization through bibliometric analysis conducted on 466 articles extracted from Scopus database published between 2014 and 2024. The analysis carried out using VosViewer focused on co-occurrence analysis, key clusters, and major themes. The results showed a significant increase in publications on CWB, particularly studies published from 2020 owards. This study primarily examined CWB as discussed in the fields of business, management, and accounting, as well as related disciplines. Additionally, the United States had the highest number of citations and articles collaborations on CWB-related publications. The results also outlined various issues related to leadership, personality, and other behaviors, which were grouped into five main clusters. To advance the field, future publications could explore new topics that would contribute to the development of a more strong conceptual framework.
