Abstract

Objectives : The objective of this work is to create a data base starting from the study of the growth of the plantain tree which can be used to create mathematical models making it possible to envisage this growth in real time and to pre-empt it. Methods and results : The growth study was conducted in two region of Côte d’Ivoire : Azaguié and Yamoussoukro. The results showed that the leaves number of the Azaguié region is higher than that of Yamoussoukro. Concerning the pseudo-stem height, the plantain trees of Yamoussoukro zone are higher than those of Azaguié. As for width at 10 cm above the ground, we observed that the plantain tree of Yamoussoukro is bigger than that of Azaguié. Conclusion and application of research : The different variations of the parameters studied indicate that there is perpetual change during the growth of plantain. It is for this reason that the modeling of the growth of plantain, using experimental data, may be proposed as a way of mastering variability parameters in the production areas and for two types of treatment. Growth parameters of plantain Azaguié to differ from those of Yamoussoukro. The results confirm that Yamoussoukro is a place where plantain can thrive. However, this growth can be accelerated by the addition of nutrients.
