Abstract

Abstract - One of the nutritional problems that occur inadolescents is overweight (obesity) caused by high foodintake but not balanced by adequate physical activity andhigh-calorie diets but contain little fiber. The 2013 BasicHealth Research Data shows that the prevalence ofobesity among adolescents aged 16- 18 years is 1.6% whilethe prevalence of obesity in South Sumatra Province ishigher than the national level of 4.8%. This study aims tolook at the Effect of Media Booklet Nutrition Educationon Knowledge and Adolescent Nutrition for Obesity inPalembang City. This type of quasi experimental researchdesign PreTest - PostTest with control. The researchsample was 70 obese adolescents in SMA and SMKMethodist 2 in Palembang. The treatment group got theintervention in the form of lectures and booklets 4 timeswhile the comparison group was only given lectures. Datawere analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test.The results showed that the average knowledge score inobese adolescents who got lectures and booklets increasedby 2.69 while the intake of energy, protein, fat,carbohydrates and weight decreased. In the comparisongroup the average knowledge score only increased by 1.06while the intake of energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates,and body weight increased.
