Abstract
The article discusses changes in the job profiles and expectations of subject librarians in academic libraries in Germany, based on a survey of 479 librarians at the 100th Deutscher Bibliothekartag (Meeting of German Librarians) in Berlin in 2011. Responses to the survey questions, which included questions regarding subject-specific qualifications, streamlining and outsourcing of responsibilities and expertise, and the future of subject librarianship in general, are quoted extensively.
