Abstract

Milkfish (Chanos chanos) is an important economic value fish. Milkfish is widely consumed by the community because it has high nutritional value. Milkfish is also used by pole and line fishermen as live bait for fishing. In the milkfish farming system, increasing production is a very important factor. One of the efforts to increase production in fish farming systems is the application of high stocking densities. This study aims to determine the effect of different stocking densities on the growth and survival of milkfish (C. chanos). Parameters observed were absolute weight growth and survival rate. The results of observations on the weight growth of milkfish (C. chanos) showed that Treatment B was the treatment with the highest growth rate of 0.417 g, followed by treatment A of 0.411 g, treatment D of 0.170 g, and treatment C of 131 g. The results of analysis of variance showed that stocking density significantly affected the absolute weight growth of Milkfish (C. chanos). Observation of the survival rate showed that treatment A was the treatment with the highest survival rate of 55.93%, followed by treatment B of 51.11%, treatment C of 43.56% and treatment C of 41.85%. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the stocking density does not significantly affect the survival rate of milkfish.
