Mood stabilisers in the management of bipolar disorder

Abstract

In the third of this series on the major psychiatric drug groups, the author discusses the choice and use of mood stabilisers in the management of bipolar affective disorder. Pharmacology, interactions and side-effects, as well as information to give to patients are described.
